Alright – let’s clear the air about the sports issue and come to a resolution. What is happening right now is this: A certain side of the political spectrum LOOOOOOOOOOOVE the trans kids in sports because of a few reasons:
1) It keeps the topic in the news and allows anti-trans rhetoric to run wild
2) It is a way to hide bigotry behind a seemingly well-intentioned reasons of loving women’s sports
3) Because they kind of have a point. (Eeeek, calm down, Democrats….read the whole blog, ok?) It’s a wobbly leg they are standing on, but a leg nonetheless. It’s one of the few slightly valid things that they have in their corner and damn – they are clinging to it with ALL THEIR MIGHT….am I right?
So I’ve been thinking about this…..a lot… and my resolution is simply this: The Nation needs a resolution on HOW people can play. I think we can all agree that we want to see ALL kids be able to play sports, right?………………….. Ok, hearing crickets from a certain side of the aisle but I'm going to take silence as consensus for a minute.
So hey, I’m going to throw out some ideas – Let’s call it a FIRST DRAFT for the Nation's policy on trans kids in sports. Here we go:

Let’s just add a single box to the Annual Physical form for EVERY SINGLE CHILD that the Doctor has to check and it will simply say: Child is over the age of 12 (and under the age of 18) and qualifies to play sports in their affirmed gender of: ________________
Maybe then the Doctors have certain criteria for them to use to make this determination. Here are my ideas:
– The child has been on puberty blockers and/or or hormone therapy for at least one year.
OR
– The child’s hormone levels are within the normal range for their chosen gender.
OR
– The child is born with the biological parts that match their affirmed gender.
OR
– The child is pre-pubescent
No need to indicate which one it is because it doesn’t matter – all we need is the form signed, Doctor.

I mean, simple solution, right?
This way EVERY child has to have a physician sign off on this to play any sport. Thus, it doesn’t call out our children that are trans and it doesn’t require any “genital checkers” in the locker rooms in high school. (Nobody wants that, right?…….. man, why do I still hear crickets from across the aisle?) I mean, I think we can agree here that it is nobody’s business or concern what parts somebody was born with. The only thing that matters from a sports perspective is if they are able to play fairly on a team for their age group.
I mean, I just came up with that in like a few minutes and I bet if we all spent just 20 minutes thinking of HOW all kids can play instead of IF all kids can play sports, well…. I bet we can come up with some spectacular ideas. Because everyone’s goal is to make sure that all kids can play sports, right?!?!?!? Problem solved, right?!?! I mean, win/f***ing/win!!!!!
Oh wait…. I'm starting to hear some muttering and fist pounding from across the aisle. Oh wait…. you don't want a solution? Sigh. I thought this was about figuring out the sports thing.
Oh, ok then. I see….. it isn’t really about sports. It never was, was it? No, no, it’s so much deeper than that. It is about people not liking that gender is actually a spectrum. It is about some people feeling that living in a non-binary world of gender is scary. It is about misinformation and feeling the need to “other” people. It is about ignorance and it is about fear and it is about keeping the issue unresolved in an effort to hold people down because they don’t want to believe that diversity exists in the world outside of their binary minds. It is about the clash of fundamental religious zealots with their direct intention to undermine the separation of church and State. It’s about deep hate and cruelty expressing itself in a veiled excuse of women’s sports.
That is what this is about. But hey, they are going to tell you that it is truly about their deep love of women’s sports. Sigh. I'd love nothing more for them to prove me wrong.
So I say let’s call their f***ing bluff.
I propose this as a solution and can’t wait to hear other’s solutions. Let’s compile the stakeholder feedback, take it to a vote and roll it for the 2025/2026 school year starting this Fall.
Then we can all move on and actually talk about the real issues at hand and solve the problems that actually affect the other 99% of Americans…. Oh yeah, and then the bigotry and hatred that continues to be spewed will be viewed for what it really is when they can no longer hide behind their crumbling veil of female advocacy.
Because with something so easy to solve, it makes you wonder why nobody is solving it, right? It makes you wonder which side is being served by its intentional, unresolved, ongoing ambiguity.
Hmmmmmmm. Distraction is a powerful thing.
